Thames Tunnel Statue

The exterior design features a painted floral arrangement surrounding the statement "Bought in the Thames Tunnel".



Looking through the glass reveals a monochrome illustration of the aforementioned tunnel, with the River Thames rendered on the surface above. Pedestrians can be seen beneath the surface traversing the tunnels, whereas the surface shows vessels traveling across the river itself with the city of London rendered in the background.



The text circling the inner illustration reads: "Thames Tunnel. 1200 feet long, 76 feet below high water mark, was 8 years Building & cost 446,000 pounds. Opened the 25th day of

March 1843."
