An interactive guide to the personal gear, weapons, and survival tools of the U.S. Army G.I. during WW II. Designed for participants of all ages. Led by Tim Van Wickler, our Director of Operations & Programs. Tim currently serves as a Staff Sergeant in the NY Army National Guard.

What did the average American soldier carry into battle during World War II—and why? Kit & Combat is an interactive program designed for participants of all ages, offering a close-up look at the personal gear, weapons, and survival tools of the U.S. Army G.I.. Through engaging storytelling, artifacts, and reproductions, participants will explore the essential equipment that shaped a soldier’s experience on the front lines. From the weight of a full pack to the purpose of a mess kit, every item tells a story of ingenuity, endurance, and sacrifice. Perfect for families, history lovers, and curious minds, this unique program brings the history of World War II off the exhibit wall and into your hands.
