Help us do more to preserve Southampton’s unique history and culture. Consider giving to the Southampton History Museum’s Annual Appeal today. From free education programs to new exhibitions and research projects, your contribution will help us meaningfully connect more people than ever with Southampton’s storied past. Here are some of our many programs and activities that your donation helps make possible:
-
FREE Education Programs: The Southampton History Museum’s educational programs for K-12 students provide enriching, hands-on experiences that align with New York State curriculum standards, fostering a deeper understanding of history in an engaging and interactive way.
-
FREE Senior Events: The Museum partners with Southampton Village to host a series of festive gatherings at Rogers Mansion celebrating our community’s cherished senior citizens with events that inspire connection and joy.
-
FREE Public Programs & Events: We offer a robust calendar of year-round activities, including lectures, gallery talks, and tours. Our historically themed Spring Fair attracts hundreds of visitors each year, featuring demonstrations of broom making, blacksmithing, sheep shearing, storytelling, live 19th-century music, and so much more!
-
Special Exhibitions: In 2025, we commemorated the end of the Second World War more than 80 years ago with Homefront to Battlefront: Southampton during World War II, presented in cooperation with the Village of Southampton, the Village Commission on Veterans Patriotic Events, and the Southampton Cultural Center. On view at the Southampton Village Veterans Hall/Southampton Cultural Center from May through December, the exhibition shares stories of local community members who played a role in this historic war. We are also collecting local World War II history to preserve the stories of veterans, nurses, and others before they are lost to time.
-
Historic Preservation Initiatives: Thoughtful planning and care for our one-of-a-kind buildings ensure their long-term preservation as engaging historic sites for generations to come. This year marked the start of a $1.2 million exterior restoration project at Rogers Mansion funded by the Village of Southampton and the State of New York, to restore roofing, siding, chimneys, and windows. This fall, the Museum launched a new project to enhance the interior gallery spaces at Rogers Mansion with a $165,000 grant from the Suffolk County JumpSMART program.
-
Archives & Research Center: Professionally staffed with 560 cubic feet of archival materials and over 8,000 volumes, maps, photographs, and more. We welcome researchers from near and far seeking to investigate their genealogy and Southampton’s distinctive past. Meanwhile, our ongoing digitization efforts in collaboration with New York Heritage and the Long Island Library Resources Council continue to make our exceptional collections more accessible to all.
Please know that your gift is highly valued by our staff, trustees, many volunteers and the wider Southampton community.
