Volunteer Work

Purpose

To donate your time and expertise to benefiting the museum in some way

Museum Activities

Volunteers can help out in many different ways at the museum. Below are some different areas in which you may be able to best use your skills and knowledge.

Collections

Assist with cataloging museum objects and enter data into PastPerfect, the museum’s collections management software. Track incoming acquisitions and participate in inventory of our large object collection.

Docent

Conduct tours of museum buildings while keeping aware of security problems. Learn about and serve as source of specialized information on the Rogers Mansion, Halsey House, and the history of Southampton to museum visitors and students using the collection, buildings, and available reference material.

Education Assistant

Assist the Education Committee in conducting school programs and workshops. Aid in the development of new programs for children, families, and adults.

Administration Assistant

Assist in general office duties including mailings, computer data entry, filing, etc.

If you have a different way in which you would like to volunteer, feel free to let us know!
