The Southampton History Museum is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit educational organization chartered by the New York State Board of Regents and incorporated under the New York State Education Department.
Our mission is preservation and education: We preserve and educate about local history and culture through our unique historic sites, archives, collections, and engaging public programs.
Archives & Research Center
​​Open year-round by appointment. From 19th-century whaling logs to genealogies of Southampton's early English settlers, the Southampton History Museum preserves 560 cubic feet of archival material as well as a library with more than 2,000 volumes.

Research Southampton's history and culture through our wide ranging collections with more than 3,000 objects, including significant examples of architecture, decorative art, fine art as well as photographs, maps, manuscripts, and more, spanning over 400 years of local history.
