About the Event
Join us in the historic 1825 Sayre Barn to hear the story of the Circassian as performed by Peter Walsh with accompaniment by John Ludlow and Iris Ornig. The story of the Circassian is centered around the tragic story of how 28 people lost their lives in a tragic shipwreck involving ten Shinnecock Natives from the Southampton reservation and a local handyman; four salvagers from New York and twelve British seamen, plus an Irish stowaway. The story of the Circassian is how things can go so wrong and how we can possibly learn to make things right in our own lives and in our own times. Light refreshments will be served.
