About the Event
On August 9, 1945, Nagasaki became the second—and last—city in history to experience the devastation of an atomic bombing. The attack claimed more than 73,000 lives and left over 75,000 injured.
In the eight decades since, the people of Nagasaki have honored the memory of this tragedy through education and a steadfast commitment to the abolition of nuclear weapons. Today, sites such as the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, Peace Park, Hypocenter Park, and the Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall serve not only as places of reflection but as powerful centers for global learning and peace-building.
Join us in exploring how Nagasaki's history and cultural heritage shaped its remarkable journey of recovery—and how its people emerged as global advocates for a world without nuclear weapons.
