About the Event
Our Spirit of 1932 series returns to celebrate films from the year our theater first opened its doors. The latest edition turns to the joy of musicals from the era that bring its jubilance to life. Join us on opening night ahead of our first screening with a special presentation from the Southampton History Museum, as Sarah Kautz and Mary Cummings take us back in time to explore what our community was like in the year when these movies hit theaters.
Their conversation will be followed by a presentation of the delightful 1932 hit One Hour With You. Legendary comedy director Ernst Lubitsch delivered two masterworks in 1932: The jewel thief romance Trouble in Paradise (which opened our series last year) and this bawdy musical comedy.
