In 1899 Samuel L. Parrish, founder of the Parrish Art Museum and the last private owner of the Rogers Mansion, formed a competition for those in Southampton to submit their best answer to the question, "What is charm?", in the form of poem or prose.
Students at the Children School here in Southampton attempted to answer this very question themselves. The Nursey students (3 years old) accompanied their answers with paintings of the sun inspired by Poet Amanda Gorman and the Pre-K students (4-5 years old) created spirals inspired by artist Alma Woodsey Thomas.
The art work is also available to be seen in the windows of Catena's located at 143 Main Street, Southampton.
