Earlier this year some of my coworkers got the chance to go over to 7 Powell Street and check out an amazing piece of Southampton History. Maybe not the most exciting thing, but there stands a former potato weigh station! Thankfully the new owners of this building have no plans in mind to harm the historical integrity of the space. In fact they are doing everything they can to make the space work for them while keeping all the interesting pieces of history alive. Pictured below you can see the image of an early directory hanging in the Village Trustee board room in Village Hall that lists George White's Southampton Coal and Produce company (the one who formerly used the weigh station).
